Russ Johnson and his quartet will present a concert at the Pleasant Valley Church, about an hour from Madison. This is an historic country church, first built in 1874, then rebuilt after a fire in 1912. Russ’ concert is an important part of the local community’s effort to save the church from closure and sale. As many jazz fans know, Russ Johnson has worked alongside many of the legendary figures in jazz and has many acclaimed recordings of his own. He is also an educator and clinician. All Madison-area jazz aficionados are welcome to attend. A free will offering will be taken to benefit the church fund.
