What the're saying about “Picks of the Party”

Eddie Higgins, pianist, performing on the CD with the Capital City All Stars
“I hope the other bands were as pleased as I was.  Congratulations on a good idea, well conceived and executed.”

Butch Thompson, internationally known entertainer and jazz historian
“In its 20-year history, the Madison Jazz Society has built a solid reputation the hard way – by consistently showcasing top jazz musicians for 15 years at its annual Capital City Jazz Fest.  This kind of commitment to the music is exceptional and this CD is a fitting celebration of the Society’s dedication over the long haul.  There is a wide range of styles here, from the downright funky to the swank lounge act, but all of these tracks reflect the MJS determination to present just plain good music.
“The MJS is also committed to presenting the music to young people as a way of ensuring its future audience.  Again, this is the way things should be done.  Musicians and listeners around the U.S. know about the MJS and its commitment to the cause, and we all wish for its continued success.”

Ben Benedetti, host of Sunday big band show on WTUX
"The Madison Jazz Society's 'Capital City Jazz Fest' CD is a must for any Jazz afficionado because it showcases the excellent assemblage of artists and bands that have graced the MJS stage over the years.  There's something in it for everyone's musical tastebuds."
